Quakers Yard area (1)

Image
This is from a photo a member of the class gave us (along the Taff trail), I wanted to use acrylic for this one. I painted on canvas sheet pad A4 size. Took 2 hours, very enjoyable.  I love the autumnal feel to this scene.

Castle revisited

Image
This task in class yesterday was of Carfathfa castle,  I had done this image in preparation before, but in class the students all sought to draw this image with all its detail first in pencil, then in ink and finally some watercolour washes. This example here took 3 hours as a running demo for the class. It was very engaging and quite a challenge. I  enjoyed doing this.

Acrylic scene revisited

Image
This was a demonstration for a new class on Monday 29th. I  wanted to make this painting more fluid in approach. Previously, I had used gouache.  Here I showed how my fan brush gave good effects and a fresh approach for trees and grasses. The overall finish was OK. The class seemed to enjoy this task.

Watercolour and ink after Rob Adams

This was a new demonstration in a new art class yesterday (13/3/23).  I gave the students more freedom with this image.  It is truly amazing how different each persons rendition looks like.   I decided to make it more of summer colours with blue sky and green and brown mountains and trees etc.  I sketched this out firstly in graphite a very basic sketch.  Then I painted in the sky with wet into wet and added blue, yellow and red to mix those colours and just let the paint do its thing.  next I kept adding more washses and then as the paper was drying added more colour and foliage.   All the while I was adding pen and ink to the scene, this took two hours so I felt it was a session well spent in creativity and relaxation.
